The Veg-Delight Match Play at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) has entered another stage. Following the success of the pairs of Furkan Gani/S. Kaira and that of John Gift Mwakhwaw/Eric Chapola in the second round on Wednesday, two quarter-final slots have been filled.

The competition runs from May 1 until July 27.

It has attracted over 60 golfers. The two pairs scraped through to the crucial stage after seeing off  the pairs of M. Maru/Chris Kapanga and a duo of Mayamiko Kalizang’oma/James Chimwaza, respectively.

“We are happy with how things are progressing so far. Since we started the event in May, we have not experienced any challenge and we hope things will be like this throughout,” said Veg-Delight manager Tarang Makhecha.

According to Makhecha, the plate event is being conducted alongside the main contest and they would also have an open tournament on the final day of the stroke-play formatted Match Play.

Meanwhile, the pair of Bashir Shariff/Davlin Chokazinga will wind up their second round today while S. Moses/Y. Jalale, JB Suzi/James Katunga and Justice Katsala/B. Chima will fight for the other quarter-final slots.

Welkam Phiri/L.Pinto will be up against the pair of Kenum Siula/C. Sibande whereas Andrew Santhe/A. Guarino is expected to face a combination of Edwin Chipala and Donbell Mandala.

Makhecha and Victor Jere will square up against the pair of Francis Mwansa and I. Kambale in the quarter-final qualifiers while Noel Lipipa and S. Ishmail will take on a team of Charles Merrick and C. Nseula.
